Class Info & Policies
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for a dancer to show progress in technique. It is also much appreciated by the staff and the rest of the class if all dancers arrive on time. Classes meet every week unless there is a holiday. Please refer to our calendar.
Tuition
The tuition is based on the dance season and is determined by the total number of scheduled classes to be held in the studio or on line virtual class instruction. Tuition can be paid annually or by the month. If paying by the month, tuition payments are the same and equal amount paid over the year regardless of the number of scheduled classes during that month. I understand the tuition is non-refundable and there is a $10 late fee if tuition is not received by the 10th of each month. If tuition is not received by the 15th of the month the credit card on file will automatically be charged. Any account that becomes two months delinquent, the student will not be permitted to attend further classes or participate in the recital until the account is brought current. Need a written non return notification 2 weeks before tuition is due if planning on not continuing with classes.
Cancellation of Class
Class cancellations due to inclement weather will be posted on Facebook and an email sent to those families who provided email addresses for our records. There will also be an outgoing message placed on the studio phone. In addition, weather-related cancellation notices will be posted on WPXI, WTAE, and KDKA websites and MAY BE broadcast on the television stations (at stations' option).
Attire and Appearance
The proper dress codes must be followed to ensure the safety of the students, as well as to permit the teacher an unobstructed view of the dancer to ensure the techniques are being learned. Please adhere to the following dancewear guidelines.
- Pre-School Combination Class – black leotard, pink tights, black leather tap shoes (must have a buckle with strap, no ties), and pink leather ballet shoes (no ballet slippers)
- Acro/Gymnastics Classes – leotard with tan or pink stirrup tights
- Jazz/Lyrical Class – leotard with stirrup tights, tan jazz shoes, and/or foot undeez
- Ballet/Pointe Class – black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Pink pointe shoes (teacher approved)
- Tap Class – entry level will be Black Leather buckle tap shoe. Experienced tappers should check with the studio before purchasing shoes
Tee shirts, sweat suits, etc are not acceptable. Please pull hair back neatly. All dancewear items are available at the studio during Fittings Dates in August and September and should be purchased through the studio to ensure the proper fit and needed quality.
Recital
Each year the studio presents an annual recital to celebrate the students accomplishments. Information is provided late fall with all the details. The letter will detail the fees to participate and the payment options. The recital is optional, but we encourage the dancers to participate – it is all part of the learning experience. Costumes will not be ordered for your dancer unless the deposit is received by the due date listed on the letter. No costumes will be handed out until all payments are current. Recital fees are Non-Refundable.
“The teachers are great! During my years at Dance Workshop I have been taught how to fine-tune my technique to get the most out of my dance education and make me the best dancer I can be.”
